STARTING AT THE SOUTHERN TIP HEADING NORTH:

KITTERY

We love this little working waterfront town just over the bridge from Portsmouth, NH.

ANJU NOODLE BAR Perfect for a midday meal or delicious supper.

THE BLACK BIRCH Our top choice for a memorable dinner and drinks. They don’t accept reservations, but tables are usually available and even if there’s a wait, it’s always worth it.

BUOY GALLERY Local art and music venue offering rad vibes and good times. Always worth seeing what they have going on.

FLO'S HOTDOGS Technically just north of Kittery in Cape Neddick, but a must stop nonetheless. Family owned and operated since 1959. Get them fully loaded and grab a bottle of their infamous relish.

FOLK One of our favorite jewels of a shop where you can now pick up a bottle of natural wine in addition to a special gift. (Amelia, the owner, and lovely person all around, can share more ideas in these parts!)

LIL'S CAFE Coffee and treats we can’t resist.

TULSI INDIAN RESTAURANT A local favorite for fresh and modern Indian cuisine, it’s a delicious stop on the Southern Maine dining scene.

THE WALLINGFORD DRAM Thoughtful cocktails in a cozy atmosphere.

PORTLAND

Portland is packed with incredible restaurants, bars, shops, kid-friendly spots, bakeries, and coffee shops—here’s a list of standouts and some of our favorites.

COFFEE, BREAD & PASTRIES

BARD COFFEE Just the place to stop while shopping in the Old Port - the team is amazing and they make all the classics just as you’d want them.

BECKY'S DINER There’s always a wait at this beloved Portland Diner but it’s worth it. A perfect greasy spoon to soak up the fun of the previous night or prepare you for a big day ahead.

BELLEVILLE OMG. The croissants. Bonus: they serve Tandem Coffee. We love stopping here on our way down to the Eastern Prom for a walk or to let kids hit the playground.

BREAD & FRIENDS Beautiful housemade breads. Grateful for this spot with lovely indoor and outdoor seating for breakfast and lunch in town.

FORAGE MARKET Delicious housemade bagels (we love the whitefish on everything) and espresso drinks.

MOONDAY COFFEE Simple, beautiful coffee and housemade chai. Sit outside and soak in the sunshine between stops on Washington Avenue.

NIGHT MOVES BREAD One of our all time favorite bakeries with a lovely location in South Portland - naturally leavened and slowly fermented breads. Don’t miss their pizza nights and summer ice cream collabs with Dear Dairy.

NORIMOTO BAKERYJames Beard award-winning bakery with a constantly rotating menu of delicious treasures. European baking, Japanese sensibilities and Maine ingredients.

ONGGI Their expanded cafe offers the perfect treats and we can’t get enough. We’re obsessed with their lightly sweetened matcha and their matcha mochi. Don’t miss their sourdough chocolate chip cookies.

RAMONA'S Delish and decadent breakfast sandwiches and lunch hoagies.

ROSE FOODS A bagel shop off the peninsula but worth the little drive. Their Matzo Ball Soup is a winter favorite of ours. Don’t sleep on the latkes either.

SMALLS Great all-day café. We love the ham and cheese baguette with an oat milk latte, and we like to take it across the street to the little park if there’s no seating inside or if the kids need a bit of space. Browse their super cute shop while you wait or head over for happy hour and snacks before dinner.

STANDARD BAKING CO. A beloved and infamous Portland bakery that lives up to its reputation. They use sustainable and local grains and has a well earned spot as a Portland classic.

TANDEM COFFEE ROASTERS We love Little Tandem in the east end (near our shop) but the larger location on Congress has a more robust food offering.

ZU BAKERY Another really special bread and pastry spot. We used to make pilgrimages to the Brunswick farmers market for it but now it’s open in town. Lucky us!

PORTLAND | LUNCH

BANH APPETIT This Vietnamese spot has all our favorites - we love their TofuVBanh Mi - it always feels healthy and satisfying.

THE HIGH ROLLER LOBSTER CO. Casual and excellent for a quick bite while pounding the pavement in the Old Port. The lobster rolls are excellent, their hot dogs are not to be snoozed on.

LUKE'S LOBSTER Our favorite deck-side restaurant with all the classics that make Maine famous. Beautiful views, great vibes, delicious food.

RED SEA RESTAURANT One of the first restaurants that brought us to Washington Avenue in the early days of moving to Maine from NYC was Red Sea. This Eritrean restaurant feels like home cooking in the most loved sense of the word.
