I (Katie) was gifted this book by my sister in law early into my motherhood journey and it quickly became the warm, supportive hug I needed. A loving, calming, inspiring guide to being present with your children, celebrating the seasons, discovering rhythms that feel good for your family and help your children feel grounded day in and day out to discover the best versions of themselves. I gift this to every new mom I meet!

Early Riser Companion is an indispensable family resource book filled with songs, rhymes, recipes and ideas for rituals and rhythms to layer into your home. It is a book for the new parent, a treasure for someone already along the parenting path, a spark of inspiration towards more growth and perspective.

Much as the Farmer's Almanac recorded tide tables and facts about seasonal crops, Early Riser Companion gives touch points to be woven into the fabric of your family day.

It consists of five chapters that take you through the arc of the day and the seasons of the year.

Included are:

  • Beautiful photo essays with accompanying poems or reflections on that celebrate childhood and the transformation we undergo as we strive to parent consciously

  • Creating a morning circle time

  • Songs and finger rhymes to learn with your little ones for each season

  • Original content and artwork that weaves magic and imagination into each section and reminds us that peace begins at home

  • A rhythm wheel that can be used with your children to create a daily and weekly schedule

  • An "Around the Year" Section that is a mini-reference book with ideas for celebrations, easy mindfulness practices, herbal wellness recipes as well as thoughts on self-care, and weaving anchor points of tradition and ritual throughout each season.

Limited Edition printed by Paperchase Press in California on FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Certified Paper. No big runs. No excess waste.

More about this book:

Early Riser has two meanings. When our children are born, the predictability of our former lives goes out the window. Babies know nothing of morning, noon, and night or human-made schedules. Childhood is filled with too little sleep and 5 am wakeup calls. I woke in those first few years feeling the yawn of the day ahead without much structure to support me. And then night would fall, the witching hour. I would sit for the first time that evening just in time to have my toddler creep down the hallway ready for another drink of water, another cuddle. One thing is for sure, it can be challenging to handle these moments with grace or gain perspective on why they might be happening. It seemed there were a million and one books on labor and delivery but nothing met my needs on how to integrate the first years of raising a child.

The second meaning of Early Riser is that it is the dawn of our journey as parents and caregivers. There is no manual for becoming a parent. All we have is the blueprint of how we were raised and what we have seen in our peers around us or in our culture. Each day is a chance to rewrite our old stories with loving kindness. Each day is a chance to find a renewing spirit of family life and feel the wonder of childhood. Early Riser Companion is the book that I wish I had when my daughters were first born. It is a resource that parents can use to navigate the transitions in a day. Let Early Riser Companion be with you, a trusted friend, spurring on creativity and intuitive knowing for your own journey.
