This marbled platter from the highlands of Huelva is handcrafted by the last artisan in Huelva using the 'cucharillas' technique, involving detailed patterns applied with small spoons. This terracotta piece is crafted by the last artisan in Huelva who uses this traditional method.

*Every single piece is handmade, so dimensions may vary.

All Casa Maricruz ceramics are microwave and dishwasher safe. However, we recommend washing them by hand whenever you can. Consider that every piece is handmade and unique, and they deserve a long life of love and care.

With use, darkening in the fine cracks is totally normal for this type of traditional ceramic—especially since we’ve kept that lovely crackle finish to preserve the classic, timeless look.

Casa Maricruz suggests trying a long, hot dishwasher cycle first, or a soak in detergent for a few hours. If the stains are still there, it likely means they’ve settled in a bit, so here are some tried-and-true methods that should work wonders:

Hand-Wash Options

  1. Lemon Juice and Hot Water Soak: Soak plates in hot water with juice from 2–3 lemons for several hours or overnight, then rinse.
  2. Vinegar and Baking Soda: Sprinkle baking soda, add a few drops of vinegar to fizz, let sit 10–15 minutes, scrub, and rinse.

Machine-Wash Options

  1. Baking Soda and Vinegar Cycle: Sprinkle baking soda in the bottom, place a cup of vinegar on the top rack, and run a long, hot cycle.
  2. Vinegar-Only Cycle: Pour a cup of vinegar in the bottom and run a long, hot cycle without detergent.

Casa Maricruz was established in 2021 by María Estrada, Antón Álvarez, and Álvaro Santos. This initiative aims to preserve traditional craftsmanship and combat mass consumerism. Casa Maricruz is intertwined with the cultural identity of Spain and a bridge between new generations and a national network of artisans that tries to stay afloat in a market that challenges its traditional principles.

At Casa Maricruz, the team is delighted to showcase their exquisite collection of handmade Spanish traditional ceramics, glassware, wood, candles and linens. Immerse yourself in the magic of craftsmanship and experience the true essence of Spanish heritage.
